The Advertising Club,Cochin is an apex body of advertising agencies, media and allied organisations in Kerala. Incepted in 1994, the Club has grown to represent the advertising fraternity in God’s own country, with over 400 members. The Club has been striving to nurture talents through various programmes and interactive sessions. Seminars, workshops and lectures by eminent personalities from the fraternity are some of the activities the Club has initiated.
The most notable initiative in this area has been the annual creative award function called ‘PEPPER’ AWARDS. From a humble beginning in 1996 (then known as Advertising Club, Cochin – Creative Excellence Awards) Pepper was christened in 2007. And today Pepper has grown to become one of the biggest and most eagerly awaited creative award shows in Southern India. In fact it is recognized as the largest in South India and second largest in the country. Agency-of-the-Year award for the first 2 years’ was swept away by TBWA India, followed by 1 point size (a creative hotshop from Chennai), Mudra South and last year Stark Communications was the winner.
Advertiser-of-the-Year award is also announced every year and the previous winners’ are another prestigious position MalayalaManorama, Jockey, Mathrubhumi, Kerala Tourism…
The competition has more than 30 categories such as Agency of the Year Award, Advertiser of the Year, Art Director of the Year, Copywriter of the Year, Special Jury Award, Campaign of the Year, Press Campaign, TV Commercial, Corporate AV, Outdoor and Radio.
The Interactive section has categories such as Web-based, POP, Direct Mailer, Photography, Packaging, Logo Design, Unpublished Works, PR and Promos. This year too the Pepper Creative Awards will have an exclusive category for participants from Kerala, covering jewellery, real estate, textile, hospitality, ayurveda and other industries.
Last year approximately 750 entries were received and this year, it is expected to cross 1,500. What makes Pepper so special is its panel of judges. The panelcomprises of stalwarts from the advertising industry, who have national and international exposure. This year, Agnello Dias, founder, Taproot India; PrathapSuthan, chief creative officer, iYogi and founder, The Advisory; Priti Nair, founder, Curry-Nation; and Raj Nair, ECD, Contract Advertising will be judging the creatives. No wonder, The Pepper Creative Awards is viewed by the creative fraternity in South India as a stepping stone to take part in national and international creative awards competitions
1.Stark Communications has been chosen as the Agency of the Year at the 6th Edition of Pepper Creative Awards 2012.
The Agency of the Year Award was accorded on the basis of maximum points received in all categories of the competition.
3.TCC Chennai was the runner up in this category. Malayala Manorama won the Advertiser of the Year award.
Pepper 2012, the annual creative awards competition of the Advertising Club of Cochin, opened for agencies from all over South India. It had received overwhelming response with more than 1,020 entries from 96 agencies in 104 competition categories.
The Jury will consist of a minimum of 3 judges. The jury will shortlist entries based on an open platform debate and deliberation on the entries where upon they will finally arrive at their decisions.At all voting stages,a jury member is prevented from voting for any entry submitted by his/her agency.The decision of the juries in all matters relating to the awarding of prizes will be final and binding.However in the case of disputes which are purely technical,The executive committee of the Advertising Club,Cochin and The Board of Trustees of The Pepper Creative Awards Trust jointly have the right to overrule the judges decision.
