Cherai Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in Kerala. It is a long golden sandy beach extending for 10 kilometers, famous by families for its ideal wind conditions and good restaurants. The place is a unique combination of sea and backwaters rimmed by lush green coconut palms and paddy fields. The backwaters are a combination of lakes, lagoons, and canals . Dolphins can often be seen playing just off the coast. Thick coconut groves and Chinese fishing nets on the waterfront are added attractions.

Air : Nearest airport is Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery, 23km from Cherai.

Rail : Nearest railway station is at Aluva 23 Km.away from cherai.Kochi hasTwo stations, Ernakulam Junction and Ernakulam Town. Trains from the Northern cities/Southern parts of India stop at Ernakulam Junction. Ernakulam, about 26 km awayfrom cherai.

Road : Cherai is just 15 minutes drive from North Paravur (5km). It can be approached from Ernakulam either by taking a ferry to Vypeen Island which is 22km away (45 minutes by bus) from Cherai or taking the longer road route via Edappally to North Paravur and from there to Cherai, a distance of about 25km. Now, the new Goshree Bridge from Ernakulam that stretches out across the backwaters connecting the islands of Bolghatty, Mulavukadu, Vallarpadam and Vypeen make tourist access to this beach much more easier.
