Kestrel Adventures offers you amazing camp and trek holidays at the picturesquely located Camp Footprint in Yellapatty. Situated along the eastern slopes of Western Ghats, overlooking the lowlands of Tamil Nadu, Footprint valley is a place amidst the clouds. Footprint valley hosts the second highest peak of the Western Ghats, Meesapulimalai (2637m MSL) and Kolukkumalai Tea Estate (2200 m MSL), the world’s highest organic tea estate.

The frequent sightings and footprints of animals in the region led to the name “Footprint valley”. Tiger, Leopard, Jungle cat, Leopard cat, Elephant, Indian Giant Squirrel, Wild Gaur, Nilgiri Langur, Nilgiri Marten, Sambar Deer, Mouse Deer, Dhole, Mongoose, Small Indian Civet etc., can be regularly sighted. A large number of birds endemic to the Western Ghats like the Malabar Whistling Thrush, Nilgiri Pipit, Black and Orange Flycatcher, Nilgiri Flycatcher, Kerala Laughing Thrush, White Bellied Blue Robin, Painted Bush Koel, Black Eagle, Nilgiri Wood Pigeon make Camp Footprint a perfect destination for enthusiastic amateur and professional birders.

ONE DAY CAMP

 

From Munnar town a wonderful drive through the green carpeted tea plantations of Kanan Devan Hills will take you to the foot hill of Yellapatty it’s at the 29 kilometer distance from Munnar town en route to Top Station, on the way we will be passing by some of popular tourist attractions of Munnar (Madupatty dam, Echo-Point, Kundalai dam) and will start our trek at Yellapatty tea estate at the height of 1700 meters MLS, this trek will be through the tea planters village, tea plantations, dense shola forest etc…, it’s an ideal route for bird watching and to spot nilgiri languor, giant squirrel etc…, after short trek will reach camp in the beautiful valley of the mountain cliff which is surrounded by forests and the panoramic mountains, where the clouds will float under your feet. After reaching the campsite rest of the day is free for exploring the beautiful mountain ranges, bird watching etc… Overnight camp in the comfortable tent at camp Footprint (1900 – 2050 meters MSL)
